Women's Catholic Scripture Study

Belmont, California

Our Format

For the study of Dr. Scott Hahn's book, Understanding the Scriptures: A Complete Course on Bible Study, we are focusing on one chapter each time we meet.

We start each lesson with individual home study (the questions from the workbook and also a few supplement questions that are based on the Scripture passage at the beginning of the chapter.

On Thursday mornings we meet as a large group and also in small groups:

10 am: Gather as a large group for opening session
10:15 am: Small Groups meet to discuss the home study questions
11:15-11:45 am: Live "wrap-up" lecture

Potlucks

As you can see on the schedule page, we meet occasionally for large group potlucks. On these days, everyone is invited to bring a dish to share. We don't structure this, but simply ask you to bring whatever you'd like. If we have all cookies, then that's what we eat that day (but it does always seem to work out fine). The most important part of the potluck is fellowship.

Luncheons

Each small group will determine occasional days/times to meet for a brown bag luncheon (everyone brings their own). We make the study our priority, so our time seems to move along quickly on class day. The small group luncheons allow for more time to better know one another. We also have one large group brown bag luncheon scheduled for this year (see schedule page).
